Beneath the frayed ribbon of the solemn galaxy
the land bleeds where oceans once gave life to fish,
the land bleeds
for the lost voices of the poets
whose verse once elevated land and sea,
whose verse used to glide upon the wind
whose verse once founds ears keen to listen
whose verse stirred imagination to strive.
But this land bleeds. There are no more voices
no more words upon which to ride.
