In the early 2000’s, he felt my art had stagnated. Its existence created a wall that inhibited my ability to pursue other artistic ideas. I wanted to recapture my passion for painting. This sense of suffocation led me to burn the majority of my work. The few pieces that escaped the flames was due to oversight. This extremism rekindled my love and dedication to paint, allowing me to follow a wider variety of ideas.
Note: In January 2024 I came across about a dozen paintings I thought were destroyed. I might post them as a representation of that time.)
Stylistically I do not have a direct influence. Thematically, my work travels the same emotional territory as Edvard Munch, Edward Hopper and Goya.

I'm relocating 'weeds' to see if I can help the butterflies find somewhere to lay :) They might not find them for a while but I'll wait it out. Might take years but I'm patient :) | -- Fiona Phillips, 3/26/11

 | Ha ha ha. Well I knew you wouldn't be cross with me but I thought it might be a bit irritating. I'll go back and like the rest. There were a few more comments I should have left too. I'll look through them backwards next time :) | -- Fiona Phillips, 3/26/11
